Didsbury Arts Festival

Didsbury Arts festival is a volunteer led multi arts festival celebrating creative culture in Didsbury, through working with local, national and international artists.

We are a biennial festival. The next edition will take place from 22 June - 30 June 2019. The festival theme will be Roots. If you would like to join the 2019 team, please get in touch.

A blue walk. We start with blue suede shoes – dancing rock and roll at the back of the Met. And the sky – blue after weeks of grey. We walk and talk of music; television; the bar that used to be a clothes shop; the pub that didn't want to grow; Hugh Laurie and Ben Elton acting it up along Burton Road. Later, after we have navigated quiet suburban roads and talked of high streets and supermarkets and what might be done about shopping malls; after we have detoured through the park to escape the traffic, cut grass drying beneath our feet, and talked of BAFTAs and who lived with who and when and where, we find a man with a paintbrush and a tin of blue. He is working his way around the edge of the church's door, turning glossed brown into a summer's sky.
